I sat down in front of my desktop today and busted out a few new songs. One of them, which I may or may not titled Chasing the Heart, took me all of 15 minutes once I got the set of loops that sounded good. I'd like to put some lyric/spoken word to it, and even beyond that, I've got an idea for a great music video for it.
My roomie (
spinninghead) kinda rolled her eyes at me one day when the comment was made that my most-listened to artist on last.fm was myself. Well, I do have 5 completed cds that I've worked on over the last eight years, and I do rather enjoy the music I create. I don't really know many others that listen to it, other than friends of mine during the initial 3 year period in which I released three cds.
During that time, one of my friends, Todd Chronister (as DJ Krozon), released a cd as well, through the now defunct original mp3.com. Four of us decided it'd be amusing to form a boy band (Eddie Cole, Dan Barber, Todd Chronister and myself), and we even had a name: Uniom. It was an acronym for something. *shrug* (u.?.?.our.music). Our first "song" was one I penned, titled "Uniom" but we were never able to record it. The whole Uniom thing was just for laughs anyway...I'll see if I can find the lyrics somewhere and share some time.
Todd and I weren't the only ones who eventually create some nice music, but
essius also put together several songs of rather experimental sounds under the name Kitorian Grey. I must admit surprise that I actually like a few of his songs.
Somewhere along the way, Todd distanced himself from Eddie, Dan and I. Then Eddie got married. At Eddie's bachelor party, I met his nephew, Daniel. By that time I'd completed my fourth cd, but mp3.com had ceased to exist as I once knew it, and I had no way to release it officially. At any rate, Eddie introduced Daniel and I under the reasoning that we were both into creating our own music. Initially it seemed like this would not be much good, as Daniel suggested that my music was "simple". I make no claims otherwise. It seemed like this would be the last of that, but he randomly began to message me on Yahoo and we started to discuss music, frequently bouncing our works-in-progress off the other.
Soon, I found lulu.com and was able to officially release my fourth cd while I was in Texas, never knowing if I would be able to complete a 5th cd. With DJ Krozon only having the one release, and Kitorian Grey never quite in the release stages, I forged ahead with Daniel (as CrescentSky). Daniel provided me with two tracks for my 5th cd, and samples for two other songs... call them, collaborative.
Now, as I noted, tonight, I've come quite close to completing cd #5. I just need to titled one more song, edit another, and get someone to record for it. I'm thinking I'd like to have both a male and female, and I'm looking for a bit of mystery and longing to their voices. Anyone up for it? :D
